Fitness programs for older adults predicted in latest Australian fitness trends for 2024

Exercise for Mental Health was the #1 anticipated trend in Australia for this year voted by the Australian fitness industry, the US, Brazil and Italy also had this trend featured in their top 10. This trend focuses on exercise programming designed to improve aspects of mental health, like reducing feelings of anxiety, stress, and depression.

Fitness Programs for Older Adults #2, identifies that exercise professionals and businesses are recognising the importance of catering for the ageing population that continues to grow in size and develop suitable programs designed to improve the health and quality of life of the older adult population and Group Exercise Training was #3.

The Strength for Life program is a group exercise activity designed to help improve the strength, balance and general fitness of people over the age of 50 and to encourage social connection with other participants. The popularity of the program is reflected in the top three trends of 2024 and has the ability to grow the number of locations, instructors and participants into the future as the baby boomer age group is increasing.
