2026 UPSTAGEING Crafting Connections Questionnaire

The UPSTAGEING Canberra Festival is hosted by Ageing (COTA) ACT and funded as a pilot by the ACT Government.

Crafting Connections is a hands-on UPSTAGEING program celebrating creativity, community and connection through craft. Hosted at the Fitters’ Workshop, it brings together makers, mentors, community groups and curious newcomers in a welcoming, social setting.

The program includes demonstrations, workshops, tasters and come-and-try sessions, alongside arts/craft group gatherings and showcases. Activities highlight the important role crafting plays in reducing social isolation, showcasing the contributions of seniors, and supporting the wider community through craft participation and the goods created.

Local arts and crafting groups or individuals will share their skills, promote their groups and display their work, with opportunities for people to get involved, learn a new skill or connect with like-minded crafters. Classes and workshops will also be offered by community groups, teachers, crafters and retail providers, both at the Fitters’ Workshop and other venues, with UPSTAGEING supporting promotion.

Crafting Connections is about learning, making and connecting—together.

Makers Showcase Days

Those participating are eligible for a free stall at the UPSTAGEING Makers Showcase on one of our Sunday festival days – also at the Fitter’s Workshop.

When:

Crafting Connections runs during the UPSTAGEING festival period 20–29 March 2026. Activities at the Fitters’ Workshop can take place on both Saturdays, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday during the festival period, with morning (10am–12pm) and afternoon (1pm–3pm) session options. All activities across the festival period will be promoted by UPSTAGEING.

Participants are invited to indicate their availability and preferred sessions below, noting any times they are unable to attend.

Resources Provided at the Fitters’ Workshop

Trestle tables and folding chairs are provided, along with free self-service tea and coffee. The venue also includes an accessible toilet designated for Fitters Workshop users. Please note that there is very limited access to power and water or washing facilities.

Please complete and submit the questionnaire below by Monday 16 February 2026, along with your current certificate of public liability insurance, or get in touch if you have questions/need more information.
