Transport Canberra’s new ticketing system, MyWay+, will go live on buses and light rail from Wednesday 27 November 2024.

Ahead of the commencement of the new ticketing system, the new MyWay+ app (via the Google Play store or the Apple App Store) and online portal are now available, along with the ability to purchase or order a MyWay+ card.

For Canberrans who do not want to use the new digital features as part of the MyWay+ system, there will still be a physical MyWay+ travel card available at retail outlets (including concession travel cards), or you can use a credit or debit card to tap on and off.

Travelling on MyWay+ with an ACT Seniors Card concession

ACT Seniors Card holders can continue to receive the same concessional fares on MyWay+. These include:

  • Free travel for cardholders aged 70 and older
  • Free off peak travel for those aged 60-69 (with concessional fares applying during peak times)

If you’re over 70 you can show your ACT Seniors Card to travel for free until the end of May 2025. However, if you’re aged 60-69 you will need to set up a MyWay+ account or get a physical MyWay+ card to travel during peak times.

To access concessional fares ACT Seniors Card holders will need to either set up a MyWay+ account or get a concessional MyWay+ card from a retail outlet. Please see below for links for more information.

What about my ACT Seniors Card?

Your ACT Seniors Card is separate from a MyWay+ account or card.

You can continue to use your ACT Seniors Card as a flash card to access discounts and concessions relating to your card.

If you are using your ACT Seniors Card to access free or concession fares on public transport you will need to ensure you carry your card with your as proof of your concession.

To assist in the transition, Transport Canberra customer service representatives will be located at major bus and light rail stops and interchanges over the coming weeks as well as attending community events. If you are seeking assistance a list of upcoming locations and events can be found at the Transport Canberra website or by calling 13 17 10.
