Hughes Community Shed and Garden
Hughes Community Shed and Garden – where all are welcome.
The running of the Garden and Shed is coordinated, funded and managed by the volunteer members. All members are expected to pay an annual membership fee (to cover insurance and other costs), help with fundraising and contribute to the organising and running of Shed activities.

Community Shed
Following the generous support of the ACT Government to build the shed in 2020, COTA ACGT and a committed team of volunteers have worked hard to transform the space into a vibrant and functioning community shed.
The Shed contains a full set of wood and metal work equipment as well as resources for a range of projects and activities.
The Shed is at the corner of Groom and Whittle St (opposite Hughes Primary School).
Community Garden
The Hughes Community Garden was established by COTA ACT in 2020 with set up funding from the ACT Government. Since then, with support from the volunteers at the Hughes Community Shed and other community members the garden has grown to include veggie beds, a garden shed, watering system, and a composting/recycling program for the Hughes shops. The Garden has also hosted community projects by CIT students and ADFA cadets.
The Garden is located on the corner of Wisdom and Groom St.
Opening hours
The Shed and Garden are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm.
They are always open to new members and on the look out for local community projects.
