Smooth Silver Singing by Silver Songbirds choir

A 40 minute free concert of popular songs sung by the Silver Songbirds choir with contributions from acclaimed Soprano Sarahlouise Owens and celebrated ACT pianist Michael Dooley. The concert reflects the pleasure and performance of a choir of senior community members and is open for interested people to join our weekly rehearsals,

The Silver Songbirds choir has a 20 year history, under different names, meets weekly, thanks to its sponsor the Vikings Club, in Erindale on Wednesday mornings at 11.00 am for 90 minutes. There is no audition, no pressure and absolutely no judgement.

Christine Paynter, the choir liaison officer explains: “The evidence is very clear: singing in a community choir is personally beneficial to members supporting good health and wellbeing.” . Dr Paynter said: “the Silver Songbirds choir has special qualities beyond its music and range of music genres. It’s practice is in the middle of the day when driving and parking is easy and socially, it is a group which cares for one another. We lift each other up, in song and in life.”

The Silver Songbirds choir has professional support through its musical Director and pianist. The choir sings a range of genres such as choral gems, global folk, jazz, contemporary arrangements and some of the easier and well-known operatic classics.

When: weekly on Wednesday at 11.00 am at the Vikings club, Erindale
