“Our Time to Shine – UpstAGEING with ACTCAA” celebrates the wisdom and spirit of Chinese seniors, uplifted by the love and support of their families. Through joyful performances, we honour our cultural tradition of respecting elders and the warm, caring community we call home.

ACT Chinese Australian Association Inc. (ACTCAA) is one of Canberra’s most respected and enduring Chinese community organisations, supporting seniors and their families for more than 38 years. Guided by the values of respect for elders, cultural continuity, and compassionate leadership, ACTCAA has created a warm, family‑like environment where migrants of all ages can find belonging and call Canberra home.

At this year’s COTA ACT UpstAGEING event, we proudly present “Our Time to Shine – UpstAGEING with ACTCAA,” a joyful celebration of the wisdom, creativity, and resilience of our seniors. Every performance is created and presented by our older members, supported lovingly by their families and younger generations. This intergenerational collaboration reflects our commitment to bridging age gaps and strengthening community bonds.

As we celebrate, we also take this opportunity to raise awareness of the early signs of dementia and the importance of family understanding and support. ACTCAA is dedicated to promoting healthy ageing, providing guidance for carers, and ensuring seniors are valued — never seen as a burden, but as treasured members whose presence enriches our community. Through music, dance, and cultural expression, we honour positive ageing and the caring spirit that defines ACTCAA.
