COTA ACT – your hub for seniors resources

Discover a wealth of information tailored for seniors through COTA ACT. Our Seniors Information Service offers guidance on various topics, accessible via phone, email, or in-person visits.

Your ACT Seniors Card

The ACT Senior’s Card provide access to discounts and special offers to a range of businesses across the ACT including shops, restaurants and professional services. If you are a permanent resident of Australia and living in the ACT, aged 60 years or over and work less than 20 hours per week in paid employment, you can access over 450 business and service listings with your ACT Seniors Card. To apply for a new card or a replacement card, visit the ACT Seniors Card application on actseniorscard.org.au or you can call COTA ACT on 6282 3777 for more information.

Seniors Information Service

The Seniors Information Line is an ACT-wide information and referral service run by COTA ACT. You can contact us by phone, email or drop into the office to get information and advice on a range of issues and topics.

COTA @ the libraries

On Thursday mornings COTA ACT provides a weekly outreach service at four major libraries (Belconnen, Tuggeranong, Dickson and Kippax). Whether you’re wanting to understand more about services for seniors or housing options, find information about the ACT Seniors Card or if you just don’t know where to start – drop into one of our sessions and get advice from one of our knowledgeable staff.

Strength for Life

Improve your strength and flexibility through Strength for Life, our progressive training program to improve your fitness no matter your level (cost involved). After your Strength for Life assessment, you can join regular, weekly classes to improve your health and socialise at the same time.

Housing and Aged Care Support

If you need some help around your home or are starting to think about your next steps regarding aged care or housing but unsure how to start, we can provide individual assistance to help you explore your housing and find the information you need.

Community Education and Events

COTA ACT coordinates a range of events and information seminars for older people, including the Seniors Festival, Seniors Expo, Chief Minister’s Concert, our monthly Midweek Matters series and the annual Seniors Achievement Awards. Learn how to use your laptop, smart phone, iPad or tablet with our FREE one-on-one Get IT sessions at the Hughes Community Centre.

Hughes Community Shed & Garden

Open for members for individual and community projects, Tuesday 9:30 am – 1 pm, Wednesdays and Saturdays 10 am – 3 pm for everyone to enjoy. Work on your home and craft projects and get advice from our knowledgeable volunteers.
