Are you 65+? Do you like the great outdoors but find it hard to spend time there? Are you a nature lover looking for more opportunities to engage in Canberra’s wonderful natural environments?
Spending in nature is great for body, mind and spirit, but studies show that as we get older we don’t spend nearly enough time engaged in physical movement outdoors.
ACT Health is providing Canberra’s older adults with a chance to design their own outdoor activities in three of Canberra’s great destinations:
  • The National Arboretum
  • Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
  • Lanyon Homestead
How does this program work?
We want to design outdoor activities in Canberra that interest you and that also suit your health needs.
Together you will create active and engaging activities that will be used by these destination sites for years to come.
What do we need from you?
You will attend 2 x two hour workshops to learn more about the three destination sites and to design an outdoor activity for each of the sites.
The two workshops will be held on:
  • Wednesday 5 December, 2018: National Arboretum
  • Wednesday 6 February, 2019: Canberra Museum and Gallery
We will then turn your ideas into reality!
Over March and April we will take you by bus (our shout!) to each destination so that you can trial your activity on site.
How do I sign up?
We’d love to hear from you. You can register your interest with Dr Cathy Hope, University of Canberra via email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. can also email Cathy if you have any questions about this program.

Tell us what you value in women only health services in the ACT

Women’s Centre for Health Matters are conducting a short survey to better understand:

  1. ACT women’s knowledge of the ACT Women’s Health Service.
  2. Whether there are barriers to accessing ACT Women’s Health Service.
  3. What women value in a women-only health service like the ACT Women’s Health Service.

The survey forms part of a larger consultation process that may be used to inform future projects and/or advocacy work by Women’s Centre for Health Matters.

The survey will close on Monday 26 November 2016 at 5pm, and can be found at
